New York, NY- November 2, 2006:- On the eve of the New York City Marathon, Micato Safaris has announced a unique Running Safari in Kenya — long recognized as the home of many of the world’s greatest long distance runners.

From March 15 to 25, 2007, participants in Micato’s Running Safari will travel through picturesque regions of Kenya seldom seen by tourists, to meet and race with the country’s running elite –- gold medalists, world record holders and marathon champions.

The trip will culminate at the 2007 World Cross Country Championships, often described as the toughest of all foot races. For the first time, Kenya will host the event. Held in the Indian Ocean port city of Mombasa — it is the center of East Africa’s coastal culture and an ancient, exotic mix of African and Arab influences.
The safari includes visits to the runners’ villages, schools, and running camps, including one established by Los Angeles Marathon Champion Lornah Kiplagat. Morning and evening runs in the company of these distinguished Kenyan athletes guarantee a once-in-a-lifetime experience. One of Kenya’s leading running experts, John Manners, a teachers’ coach and journalist, who has written about African runners for 30 years, will guide the trip.

The Running Safari is by no means limited to über- runners. Walkers and runners of all ability levels are welcome and comfortable accommodations and meals are included.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Micato Safaris has been awarded the prestigious “World’s Best Tour Operator” from Travel + Leisure magazine in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. To know more, visit www.micato.com/runnersworld.html.
