Chichen Itza at Equinox (video)

March 28, 2007 · Written by Wayfarer Digital · Print This Article

Chichen Itza is one of 21 finalists in the “ New Seven Wonders of the World” poll. Deservedly so. I was amazed by the size of the area and incredible architectural developments of the Mayan without the aide of a laser level, 18v cordless drills, sanders, carbide bits, or Home Depot.

What is more amazing is that twice a year, for only an hour, on equinox (when the day and night lengths are the same), and with clear skies, the pyramid creates a shadow on itself… Fortunately Paco and his 40 years of service at Chichen Itza can describe it better and I was glad to have my cameras – otherwise I might not believe it. Check out another ITKT video.
