Roberta Beach Jacobson is an American humorist and author. In 1974, she left suburban Chicago to explore Europe. For all of these years, she's been wandering around, map in hand, scratching her head. Can someone out there please give her directions? She makes her home in a mountainous village on the tiny Greek island of Karpathos. It's the sort of remote spot where animals outnumber people, although some of the animals weren't actually invited. Roberta (a.k.a. The Cat Lady) shares her life with 28 cats and three dogs (all rescues, since spayed/neutered). She writes for the Athens News, International Living, The Christian Science Monitor and The European. She has ghosted, translated, fact-checked or contributed to 40+ books, including titles from Travelers' Tales Books (U.S.), Lonely Planet (Australia) and Survival Books (U.K.).
